Arrows for Israel

Update from Whitney

June 29, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I just wanted to put up an update that was a bit more detailed and alittle more personal from the small details that we’ve been doing.  Eight of the team members left on Tuesday June 23.  Jonathan, Jim, Debi, & Sheri were bumped up to first class on the way to Germany. (Lucky them!!!), while Ariel remained in Ecomony.  Paul & Challie took two different planes and they all met in Tel Aviv, on Wednesday Afternoon. Meanwhile, Wednesday morning Mandie and myself (Whitney) left Wednesday morning for DC, to London, and off to Israel. We hit lots and lots of resistance, but that Lord showed His faithfulness as He always does. In DC, Mandi and I arrived to finding out that the airport had over sold 40 seats on the plane. For some reason 40 of the seats had not been confirmed, and mine was one of  them. So it was hours, before I knew whether or not i’d even go to Israel. We found out I had a seat after the plane for the most part had been boarded. When I got on the plane, everyone on the plane clapped, (as many people in the waiting area were praying for Favor). When we got to London, There were some problems with the plane engine and right wing, so our whole flight was put in this room of high security while we were waiting,  and were delayed 2 hours. We made it safe and sound to Jaffa (where we were staying) at 10pm.

While we were on our amazing Journey, the group was exploring Jaffa, did lots of walking and hiking, and went to the beach.

Early in the morning we woke up and went on a walk through an arab community in Jaffa, then had a delightful breakfast in the Gardens,and spent time worshiping together.  We left around 9:30 that morning and drove to Ceasera. We spent most of the afternoon here. We watched 2 flims, saw the ruins, played in the Mediterrian Sea, and saw a Messianic Jewish Wedding. (We would love to put up pictures but we cant figure it out, once we do, we will add them to the update.)

We then drove past Mt. Carmel, and saw the land driving up the North to Haifa. Once at our hotel we relaxed, ate dinner, laughed a whole lot, then went down to the ports and interceded a bit. Later the night (way past midnight, a few members of the group were hanging with the locals on the roof, and were able to minster Jesus to them, and pray with them.)

The next morning, we went to Tents of Mercy, a Messianic Congregation, and worshipped with them, listened to their pastor, and met with them, building relationships. These people are so beloved.

Then we went to Meggido & Jezreel  Valley. We had a great time praying for the Spirit of the Lord to come upon Israel, and her people. Then we went to Tiberias, by the Sea of Galilie. The next morning we went to Capernum, Mount of Beatitudes, and went on a boat ride of the Sea of Galilie.

Today, we visited the Jordan River, went back to the Sea of Galilie and were baptized, and played in the water. Now we are off to Golan Heights, to visit the IDF soldiers, to give them care packages, pray over them,  and see the boarders surrounding Golan Heights.

We are  off again… more updates soon enough… and hopefully pictures.

Please pray as the Spirit of the Lord leads you. We love and Thank you for supporting us, and praying for us.

Old Port of Jaffa/Tel Aviv: Day 1 & 2

Significant arrival point for Christians coming back into the Holy Land at the turn of the 19th century.  We prayed for continued resortation of the Land, Christian support of those returning to Israel.

Haifa/Meggido/Jezreel Valley/Messianic Congregation: Day 3

We prayed and interceded over the second largest port in Israel, Haifa. We prayed for the safety of commerce coming and going into the port, and prosperity of the country as Israel is going through a hard economic times like the USA.  We prayed for safety over the boarders and roadways in and out of the northern territory.  We met with local Israeli unbelievers and shared the gospel, on Haifa hotel roof.

We visited a local Messianic Congregation (Tents of Mercy). We met many people from Richmond (including Jamie Cowan’s daughters), as well as rabbi who was originially from Richmond.  We met the founder of an outreach ministry to Holocaust survivors.

Om Meggido & Jezreel Valley, we prayed for the emotional and spiritual healing of Jews in the Land. We also prayed for God’s spirit to fill the Land and the peoples hearts.

We have LAUGHED A LOT and have lots more to share (Pictures to come soon, PROMISE!!!)

Shalom!

Thoughts and Scriptures from Ariel

June 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been drawn to Zech 9 recently.  We’ve had a lot of lightning in VA lately so I did a word searching on “lightning” in scripture the other day and was especially caught by Zech 9.  I noticed it speaks of His arrows going forth as lightning (like in Jim’s vision).  I was thinking about it again last night as we were being slammed by another storm full of intense lightning.  Over the last week the lightning has been unusually intense in the area.

When my family was at the Rappahannock River last week, a storm came upon us incredibly quickly and the lightning was striking all around us – more directly and closely than I have ever remembered in any storms before.  It was all very sudden.  We left the beach as it was just sprinkling a little here and there and then found ourselves barely able to make it back to the house before the lightning was upon us.  Others I’ve talked to recently have commented on the sudden nature of the storms and the intensity of the recent lightning.  Of course this was tragic for the families in Fredericksburg whose sons were struck last week.  However I find it interesting that as the LORD is getting our team ready for the trip, we would have such crazy lightning in the area – hitting very directly, just like arrows!

I also love Zech 9 because it speaks of Israel’s freedom from the waterless pit, a double portion restored, an infilling of the Spirit (wine), and their beauty as a crown of jewels in His hand.  See below…

Zech 9

Deliverance of Judah and Ephraim

11 As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you,
I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.
12 Return to the stronghold, O prisoners who have the hope;
This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.
13 For I will bend Judah as My bow,
I will fill the bow with Ephraim.
And I will stir up your sons, O Zion, against your sons, O Greece;
And I will make you like a warrior’s sword.
14 Then the LORD will appear over them,
And His arrow will go forth like lightning;
And the Lord GOD will blow the trumpet,
And will march in the storm winds of the south.
15 The LORD of hosts will defend them.
And they will devour and trample on the sling stones;
And they will drink and be boisterous as with wine;
And they will be filled like a sacrificial basin,
Drenched like the corners of the altar.
16 And the LORD their God will save them in that day
As the flock of His people;
For they are as the stones of a crown,
Sparkling in His land.
17 For what comeliness and beauty will be theirs!
Grain will make the young men flourish, and new wine the virgins.

Here is one other thought I just had as I was typing, which connects another word I’ve been hearing for our team with the arrow theme. I’ve consistently been hearing the LORD speak concerning Israel out of Song of Sol 2, 3, and 8 (and Eccl 3) about the awakening of love in its proper time.  Now is the time to awaken love!  When I shared this with Whitney she said she’d been hearing similarly, that as we go to Israel, our call is to “provoke them to love.”  Anyway, as I was thinking about the arrows just now the cupid image came to mind – haha – arrows of love!  May our cry be for His arrows of love to indeed strike hearts directly and intensely, just as lightning!  And may we cry out to be empty vessels used in this process – that He would use us as arrows of love that strike and transform hearts, just as the lightning transforms the soil it strikes (see Jim’s vision).

If you are supporting us through prayer, please consider praying for us out of 2 Cor 4:7-12, that as we go we would be empty vessels and dead to ourselves, to be used for this purpose as arrows of love…

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; …always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death works in us, but life in you.

Also, a few other verses that connect with the arrow and lightning theme and God’s deliverance are…

2 Samuel 22 (specifically verse 15) http://nasb.scripturetext.com/2_samuel/22.htm

Psalm 18 (verse 14) http://nasb.scripturetext.com/psalms/18.htm

The 11th Team Member!

May 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

In planning the trip, Jim felt the LORD say that there were going to be 11 of us on the team going to Israel. He shared this with us awhile back. But as it has played out we have only had 10 on the team. When we realized it was going to be only 10 of us, we were joking that the tour guide would be number 11! Well, we are excited to announce that an 11th team member, Tamice Hasty, has just purchased her plane ticket to join us in Israel! Yay God! Here is the exciting story from her end…

————————-

I am never able to get a handle on the Lord before He wows my heart again and again with his faithfulness.

Some of you know that I have been before in 2006 and while I was there I knew the Lord told me that I would be coming back, I just wasn’t told when. This past summer I started feeling the stirrings again and asked the Lord if this was the time, after not getting a real clear go ahead I sort of gave up. But while I was at home for my brothers graduation 2 weeks ago, and during a casual phone conversation with a friend who was heading to Israel I muttered these words to answer her question on if I was going to go this summer:

“if the Lord drops 1500 dollars in my lap tomorrow then I’ll do it, but I am not sweating it.”

It wasn’t a prayer to me, but I guess it was to Him. Upon my return to IHOP 2 days later I got an email from the Partners Program that a random donation had been made to me for that amount. I don’t know the person and no one knew about that casual phone conversation but me God and Amanda!

Needless to say, it was a clear answer to my weak and feeble prayer. And I am on my way! I have my plane ticket and I am going to be there from June 23 until July 7. I am very excited and I am overwhelmed at the faithfulness of the Lord!

I am writing because I am in need of prayer and of a bit more financial support. I am looking to Raise $1,000.00 more dollars for transportation lodging and food. If you would be willing to donate to my trip financially you can send it to this address:

Tamice Hasty

3517 E. Red Bridge

Kansas City MO 64137

checks payable to: Tamice Hasty

I am leaving Kansas City on June 17th, so I will not be able to check my mailbox until I return in July. I am confident that the Lord will provide the rest of the money for this trip, I am convinced that there is nothing He cant do!

Please keep me in your prayers as I take this long awaited trip!

God Bless You!

Tamice
